Noah Jimenez threw a complete-game Sunday, leading the AZ Xtreme to a 9-2 win over the Sandlot All-Stars in the 12u AA final of the USSSA Superbowl Kick-Off baseball tournament at Rio Vista Park in Peoria.

Xtreme started early, as cleanup hitter Patrick Gude hit a deep double to center in the first inning, scoring leadoff hitter Jadon Solomon. They added another run in the second, but Sandlot answered back with a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 2-1.

Ryan Antencio’s beautiful suicide squeeze in the fourth resulted in two Xtreme runs, one by error.

Sandlot, an 11u team playing up an age division, never regrouped after that. They added only a run on a triple by Jaydon Brooks in the sixth.

11u Majors

The Stetson Hills Stealth defeated the Litchfield Park Tigers 5-4 when Kevin Oretega laid down a bunt single that scored Matthew Liberatore in the bottom of the sixth.

Manager Kurt Vesecky said that his team “played solid all day. We had one mistake that cost us two runs. Matthew Liberatore pitched five solid innings, and we had a clutch two out double by Jacob Vesecky to tie the game.”

11 & Under AA

Jacob Fergusen pitched a shutout, and the Cougars cruised to a 10-0 victory over the Shadow Mountain Scorpions.

The Cougars got off to a fast start, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. Frankie Allman got the scoring started with a two-RBI triple. Donovan Myers had an RBI single.

Mitchell Schultz had two RBI singles and pitched to close out the game.

11 & Under AAA

The Legends Baseball Club defeated the Gators 2-0 in a game highlighted by great pitching and defense.

The defense was on display as the Gators turned a double play in the bottom of the first. Tanner Solomon pitched a great game for the Gators.

The Legends were led by starting pitcher Trevor Horwath, who pitched his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the second inning. The Gators loaded the bases with one out, but Horwath record a strikeout and then get the next batter to fly out to left.

10 & Under AA

The Cyclones beat the Litchfield Park Tigers 7-0. The Cyclones scored 43 total runs while only giving up eight in the tournament with two shutouts.

10 & Under AAA

The Blue Devils defeated the Peoria Grizzlies 11-0 behind pitcher Tyler Woessnem, who pitched a complete-game shutout.
