The AZ Xtreme beat Team Domin 5-1 Sunday in the 12u Open championship of the USSSA Spring Fling baseball tournament at Big League Dreams.

The Xtreme jumped on top early, scoring two runs in the first inning. One came from an error by Domin and the other came from Matthew Lecometros on a single to right, scoring AJ Vaught.

Both pitchers were dueling after the first inning until the Xtreme scored another run in the fifth on a wild pitch.

Xtreme starting pitcher Alex Daniels gave up one run on four innings pitched.

“He is the gutsiest pitcher that I know, and he thinks through the game very well,” assistant coach George Lecometros said.

Team Domin finally cracked a run in the fifth after Ridi Martinez hit a triple to the left-center wall. He later scored on a wild pitch.

The Xtreme added two more runs in the sixth. Noah Jimenez singled to center scoring Jadon Solomon and AJ Vaught.

The Xtreme were playing good defense all game long.

“We played good defense all weekend long. Defense won us the game,” coach Lecometros said.
