The Chandler Rangers took revenge on the Litchfield Park Tigers Sunday at Big League Dreams in the USSSA Cinco De Mayo Classic 12uAA championship game, winning the finale 16-2 after losing to the Tigers in pool play.
The Rangers used a big third inning to jump on top early. Dylan Freese knocked a double deep to center that plated Chandler Gavin and C.J. Schrimpf. Freese eventually scored on a walk. Jose Fowler had a sacrifice to put the Rangers up 11-4 at the end of the third.
In the fourth, Zane Jowaiszas doubled into the corner in right, plating Freese.
The Tigers ended the inning with strong defense. They picked off one baserunner tagged out another in a rundown after Asher Newman’s single to right drove in Marshall Cendejas.
The Tigers scored five times in the sixth. John Cherpak doubled and scored on a sacrifice by Gunner Parson. Nickolas Hamilton doubled and scored on Hunter Higgins’ RBI. Drake Moreno had an RBI double and eventually scored on a Julian Carter sacrifice. |
