Arcadia snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday and started off the Spring Break Tournament on the right foot with a 4-2 victory over the Bradshaw Mountain Bears at Arcadia High.

Arcadia (3-4) hopped on the board first, taking a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Brendan Satran led off the inning with a single, stole second and third on consecutive pitches and, after Thomas Schellhardt walked, scored on Andrew Serna’s RBI single to the outfield.

“His [Satran’s] speed is unbelievable,” said Arcadia coach Ken Rudolph. “He can make things happen and generate offense.”

Schellhardt and Eddie Lyon scored later in the inning when Tim Janssen reached base on an error.

The three-run second was all Arcadia starter Colton Sanchez and reliever Schellhardt needed to lock down the victory. Sanchez pitched four and two-thirds innings of two-run ball to gain the win. He struck out four and walked three.

The Bears (1-7) put up some runs in the fifth inning thanks in large part to a leadoff double by starting pitcher Justin King. After a walk to pinch-hitter Jim Jones, King scored on a pass ball. Jones scored a batter later on an RBI double by Isaiah Holguin that knocked Sanchez out of the game.

Schellardt ended the Bradshaw rally quickly, striking out the first batter he faced. The tall junior struck out four to collect the save, allowing one hit over two and one-thirds innings. He struck out the side in the seventh to end the game.

Arcadia added an insurance run in the fourth when Serna singled to open up the inning and scored on a single by Janssen.
