Cole Finochiaro doubled to drive in Jack Valley in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday night to lift the Scottsdale Desert Dragons to a 5-4 victory over the Surprise Hurricanes in the PONY-13 state playoffs at Copper Ridge School.
The Dragons advanced to the championship games against the Tucson Aztecs at 9 a.m. Sunday.
Alex Damasco pitched six strong innings for the Dragons. Finochiaro was the winning pitcher. Joey Doherty had a double and two singles.
The Aztecs finished pool play unbeaten Saturday night, beating the Tucson Yard Dogs 5-1.
Ryan Gracia, Tommy Hodges, Nick Gracia and Eric Migueles combined to strike out nine and give up only three hits for the Aztecs.
Migueles had a single and a triple, and Giovanni Orozco was 2-for-3. |
