Konner Wade threw a five-hitter Wednesday night in Farmington, N.M., as the Arizona Firebirds beat the Strike Zone Cardinals 4-0 at the Connie Mack World Series.

The Firebirds eliminated the Cardinals, the host team, and moved into the final four team in the double-elimination tournament. They will play the unbeaten Midland Redskins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Wade’s only trouble came in the top of the first inning. He gave up two singles, and an error loaded the bases with one out. But the Firebirds were able to get out of the inning with a double play.

Wade finished with eight strikeouts.

The Firebirds scored three runs in the second. Steve Casey singled to score Ryan Casillas.  Jake Peevyhouse scored when Russell Vaughan walked with bases loaded. James McDonald drew a bases-loaded walk to score Casey.

The Firebirds added a run in the fourth when James McDonald singled to score Jorge Flores.
