Scottsdale provided some early thunder Monday, but lightning in the area forced the Cal Ripken 12/60 Division state-tournament game off the field at the Surprise Recreation Campus.

The Pirates led 8-1 in the top of the second against All Sports Arizona, the Mesa entrant, before the game was stopped because of the storm. In Monday's early game, the Surprise Royals routed All Sports 13-1 in four innings.

The Royals are scheduled to face Scottsdale in Tuesday's late game, after the Pirates play All Sports.

The round-robin tournament continues Wednesday and Thursday with another round of pool play. A single-elimination round will be played Friday if needed.

12/60 Division

One game was played in this division, too. Dynamite beat Scottsdale 10-1. Dynamite faces RAMMS and Somerton plays Surprise in Tuesday's games in the double-elimination tournament.

11u Division

RAMMS beat Surprise 9-3 in the only game played Tuesday. The 11u Division is also a round-robin, with the same schedule as the 12/70. Tuesday's games feature RAMMS against Dynamite and Surprise against Dynamite.
