After winning the USSSA 14u Majors state baseball title Sunday, the AZ Toros are set to take their show on the road and compete in the TCS SlumpBuster 2010 in Omaha, Neb.

The SlumpBuster is a national event held in conjunction with the College World Series. All games during the SlumpBuster are scheduled during the day so that the participants can attend World Series games at night.

If the Toros performance in the USSSA state championships is any indication, the team is bound to make some noise in Omaha. The Toros outscored their opponents 45-12 in the tournament and won a semifinal matchup 17-2.

The top six batters in the Toros lineup are responsible for much of that production. Luis Gonzalez, Tyler Brown, Rigo Aguilar, Alex Robles, Ruben Bracamonte and Ryan Ramswaer batted over .600 during the championships and collected 29 hits.

The Toros are also backed by the stellar of pitching of Robles, whom head coach Jim Baldwin calls one of the best young pitchers in the state.

Robles pitched a complete game and allowed only one run in the Toros 9-1 championship-game victory.

With all of their weapons, the Toros are confident of their chances at the SlumpBuster.

“We plan to win it, nothing short,” said Baldwin. “We don't play for second place.”
