Victory Lane Sports Park will take a break from sports September 26 to help a worthy cause.

The park, in conjunction with neighboring Wet N’ Wild, will host the City of Hope Walk for Hope to benefit women in the fight against breast cancer.

The Phoenix walk is one of eight nationally that will raise money for cancer research at the City of Hope. U.S. News and World Report named City of Hope of the nation’s best hospitals for cancer and urology, according to the Walk’s website (click here).

Walkers can join teams to honor friends and family members in the fight against cancer or operate alone. The site also lists the top teams and individuals.

Participants can register for the event’s 5k timed desert run or a 1.3 mile leisure walk on the group’s website.

The seven other Walk of Hope locations are San Diego, Seattle, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles.
