Local skaters head to Ohio. That and more for Friday, brought to you by the Arcadia Tavern.

1. Skaters waltz into Ohio: The Coyotes Skating Club of Arizona sent 20 local skaters to the National and International Theater on Ice competition this weekend in Troy, Ohio. The Coyotes Ice Ensemble is a theatre on ice troupe that blends Broadway and ballet on-ice to entertain audiences of all ages as well as compete against some of the finest “Theatre on Ice” teams in the world. Under the direction of Nancy Pluta and Miki Stevens, the team participates in creating a free-skate routine and choreographic exercise each season.

The Ice Ensemble skaters are: : Michaila Giannatti, Marteen Cleary, Meagan Cervantes, Marlene Bernstein, Andrew Civiello, Shannon Flake, Katherine Tiernan, Briana Langley, Emma Freeburg, Stephanie Wagner, Alissa Giannatti, Lauren Kriegel, Madison Jones, Marissa Schuster, Cassandra Cervantes, Ashley Gennaro, Courtney Tully, Ashlie Fallon, Rachel Gildersleeve and Faith Collins.

2. Long jumping: Bryce Lamb, former Chandler High School and Arizona Cheetahs star, will compete this weekend in the USATF Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

3. Mets’ Davis: Ike Davis, rookie first baseman from Chaparral High School and Arizona State, has been solid since coming up, hitting .267 with eight homers in 59 games. He has helped the Mets play themselves back into contention in the National League East.

The List for Thursday:

1. Lindsey Weaver of Scottsdale shot a 70 Tuesday at the Pinnacle Country Club in Scottsdale to take medalist honors and earn a berth in the USGA Girls Junior Championship. Dana Finkelstein of Chandler (75) and Mikayla Harmon of Gilbert (75) qualified. Krystal Quihuis of Tucson (76) was first alternate, and Jacquie LeMarr of Scottsdale (76) was second alternate.

The USGA Girls Junior Championship will be July 19-14 at The Country Club of North Carolina.

2. Duel passing league tournaments: The two biggest high school passing-league tournaments will be Saturday with the new Fiesta Bowl sponsored event at Brophy in Phoenix and the more established event at the Surprise Recreation Complex.

3. More in store: It looks like Valley soccer star Robbie Findley will get a chance at some more World Cup action now that the United States has advanced. Findley drew two yellow cards in two matches and had to sit out Tuesday’s win over Algeria. The victory allowed the US team to advance from group play.

4. No. 94: Sure ASU lost its opener in the College World Series on Monday. But the new wasn’t all bad for the Sun Devils. Colin Curtis became the 94th former Sun Devil to play in the major leagues Monday night when he pinch hit and flied out for the New York Yankees in a loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. He collected an RBI single on Tuesday night with friends and family watching.

The List for Wednesday:

1. Junior Amateur qualifiers: Kyle Jones of Snowflake, Zachary Wright of Phoenix and Blake Cannon of Phoenix earned berths in next month's USGA United State Junior Amateur. Jones was the medalist, shooting 8-under 136 in two rounds Monday and Tuesday at the Par-72 Alta Mesa Country Club in Mesa. Wright and Cannon each shot 141.

Alex McMahon of Oro Valley shot 143 and is the alternate.

The Junior Amateur is July 19-24 at the Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada, Mich.

2. Top 50: We mentioned that Hamilton High golfer Kyung Kim finished third won at AJGA Rolex Girls Junior Invitational in South Carolina last week. Three Xavier golfers competed in the tournament, which drew an international field. Daffodil Sanchez tied for 42nd. Mikayla Harmon tied for 51st. Kaira Martin was 64th.

3.  More golf ahead: The JGAA  Phoenix City Championships are Wednesday and Thursday at the Aguila Golf Course and the Cave Creek Golf Course.

4. Back in the game: Junior Matt Newman, whose playing time diminished as the ASU baseball season wore on, was inserted back in the lineup late in Tuesday’s 11-4 season-ending loss to South Carolina. The Brophy graduate and former Arizona Firebirds star came through with an RBI single.

Three stars of the week:

1.  Kyung Kim of Hamilton High School shot even-par 71 in all three rounds at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C. and finished third in the Rolex Girls Junior Invitational.

2. Hannah Carson of Chandler High School and the Arizona Cheetahs saved her best for late, winning the girls javelin at the New Balance National Outdoor track meet in Greensboro, N.C. Carson threw 160 feet, 4 inches.

3. Michael Pless threw a perfect game for Sugar & Spikes in the ASA Summer Breeze tournament.
