Setting track record(s) straight for Friday, brought to you by the Arcadia Tavern.

1. More records: We missed some state records in the Junior Olympic track meet story.

2. Javelin: Carlan Naisant of the Arizona Flames broke the bantam boys javelin record with a throw of 126 feet, 8 inches.

3. Relay record: The Arizona Flames girls 4x800 meters youth relay team set a record in 10 minutes, 03.68 seconds. Alysoune Coleman, Katherin Divall, Taylor Frick and Jessica Williams were on the team.

4. Another relay record: The Arizona Titans set a record in the midget boys 4x400, finishing in 4:11.08. Stanley Berryhill, Tavian Ross, Kadridi Prince and Aaron Sauls were on the team.

5. And another relay record: Arizona Rising Suns won the 4x400 intermediate boys relay in a record 3:29.87. Devon Allen, Kejavon Moore, Jeremiah Oakley and Jalen Ortiz were on the team.

The List for Thursday:

1. Big run: Former Corona del Sol star Ashley Hansen scored the only run in Team USA's 1-0 victory over China at the Women’s World Championship softball tournament in Venezuela. So far that’s been the biggest test of Team USA.

2. Arizona sixth: Arizona finished sixth with a 4-4 record at the Heartland Classic, formerly the Sunbelt Classic, for seniors. Team Arizona lost the fifth-place game 3-2 to Ohio.

3. Solid season: Former Thunderbird and Arizona State star Eric Sogard is batting .297 with the Class AAA Sacramento Rivercats. The Rivercats are the top farm team of the Oakland A’s. With an on-base percentage of .379, he would seem to fit the A’s mold of players with patience at the plate.

4. A grand slam: There hasn’t been much grand about Brandon Wood’s season. The Angels gave the former Horizon star a chance to play regularly at the big-league level, and he has played himself out of the third baseman’s job. Going into Thursday night’s game, he is hitting .176. A bright spot finally occurred. He hit a grand slam Sunday against the Colorado Rockies.

The List for Wednesday:

1. Year of the Lineman: Five of Scout.com’s top six senior high school in Ariona prospects are linemen. Chandler quarterback Brett Hundley is the lone exception.

2. Spoken for: A lot of the recruiting speculation will focus on Hundley because the top two line prospects, offensive tackle Christian Westerman of Hamilton and Chaparral guard Andre Yruretagoyena, have already committed. Westerman gave the nod to Texas. Yruretagoyena decided on Oregon.

3. Battle of Chandler: Hundley is the best “skill position” prospect in the state. Will he be enough to get Chandler past city rival Hamilton? Hamilton has a pretty fair quarterback in Kyren Poe, who has drawn some interest form recruiters. Scout.com reports Poe has an offer from NAU.

4. Retooled: Marcos de Niza, state runner-up in 5A-II last fall, won the Fiesta Bowl 7-on-7 passing tournament last weekend. The Padres had a high octane offense last fall, but they lost, among others, quarterback Zach Schira and linebacker, running back Ramon Abreu. Abreu was the most exciting prep player I’ve seen in Arizona in years. He scored 19 touchdowns and led the team in tackles with 10 per game. He was the punt returner — and the punter.

He’s an athlete you can’t replace.

But Marcos’ offense was impressive Saturday. Quarterback Tommy Thornton showed has has a nice touch. He has a couple good receivers to throw to in Paul Elvira, also a quarterback, and Jeryan Butler.

5. Mr. Clutch: Brophy sophomore D'Amani Grayer showed he’s ready to contribute. He made a nice grab on a two-point conversion that lifted the host Broncos over Mountain Pointe on Saturday morning. Brophy finished second in the tournament.

Three stars of the weekend:

1. Ray Doller, who spearheaded the Marcos de Niza defense as the Padres won the Fiesta Bowl 7-on-7 passing tournament.

2. Cole Nagy scored late in the second half as Sereno 94 White beat the Nike Rush Argonauts and advance to the U16 boys final of the Region IV soccer championships.

3. Andrew Peterson of the Rage struck out six and threw a complete game in the 13u AAA championship at the USSSA Pile on the Points Classic baseball tournament.
