Brian Woodward of Scottsdale Youth Football has been selected to the West squad for the second annual Football University Youth All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
Woodward, an eight-grader at St. Thomas, will be a quarterback for the Jan. 10 game, which will be broadcast live on the web. The Football University Youth All-American Bowl honors the top seventh- and eighth-graders in the nation, bringing them together to play in an all-star format on a national stage.
Woodward recently led the Scottsdale Firebirds to an undefeated Midget division season and a state championship. They lost in overtime in the AYF National Championships in Orlando earlier this month.
The Football University Youth All-American Bowl is modeled after the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and will be held in the same city during the same week. Woodward was one of more than 6,000 youth all-stars nominated. Players will be profiled in Sports Illustrated for Kids. |
