Scottsdale secured the victory by the end of the second quarter, taking a 32-6 lead into halftime.

“I am very proud of the boys,” said Firebirds coach Matt Frazier. “They promised to get better every week, and I think they’ve peaked just in time for Florida.”

Firebird returner Cules Rose started the game off right for Scottsdale, running the opening kickoff back 96 yards for a touchdown. After the ball bounced over his head, Rose gained possession and dashed past the defenders on his way to the end zone.

Scottsdale running back Adarian Limbs added another touchdown later in the half on a long run. Running back Jordan Hopkins also scored on a short dive.

Limbs led the offensive attack with over 200 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.

The Firebird defense also put up a touchdown when Cole Finocchiro returned an interception for a touchdown.

The Heat scored its lone touchdown when quarterback Bryce Perkins led the team on a nice drive in the first half. Perkins found receiver Jordan Jones for a score at the end of the drive. The offensive line held up well on the drive and gave Perkins plenty of space to work with.

Scottsdale added two more scores in the third quarter to take a 46-6 lead. The first came on a 65-yard run by Limbs.

Following the rushing score, defensive back Connor Graham intercepted a Heat pass and ran the ball back for a score.

The Heat nearly put together another scoring drive in the fourth quarter after an interception by Zachary Reed put the team in Firebird territory. After several long runs by Perkins, the Firebird defense stopped the Heat attack at the 4.

Limbs added a 96-yard touchdown run on the ensuing drive to pad the Firebird lead.
