Imani Lee returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown Saturday as the Chandler Wolves, Cadet champions of the Valley, beat the Marana Broncos 42-14 for the Arizona Youth Football state championship at Tucson High School.

Lee set the pace for the Wolves at Rollin T. Gridley Stadium.  He recovered two onside kicks and played well on both side of the ball.

“He always has a good game,’’ Wolves coach Ken La Civita said.

Ty Siffington had a good all-around game for the Wolves, too. He ran for a touchdown, caught a touchdown, recovered a fumble and was solid on defense.

“He was our MVP,’’ La Civita said. “He really rocked for us.”

Connor Nasson kicked two conversions for the Wolves, who will head to Florida in two weeks to play in the AYF nationals. Saturday’s game had no bearing the berth.

Cito Toldeo-Hemphill had touchdowns of 52 and 36 yards for Wolves. Cutter Hatch scored two touchdowns, and Devin Cowen threw two scoring passes.

The Broncos’ scoring came on two long pass plays from Eric Quarrell to Jeff Northcutt.

After Lee opened the game with a touchdown, Toledo-Hemphill scored on a 36 yard run. Nasson’s kick made it 16-0.

Quarrell and Northcutt teamed up to cut the lead to 16-6.

Early in the third quarter, Toledo-Hemphill scored his second touchdown to break the game open.

“We started a little slow,’’ La Civita said. “Our offense really got going in the second half.”
