Chandler Youth Football coaches and area high school players headed to college on football scholarships were among the honorees at the annual Chandler Spotlight Awards.

Ken LaCivita of the Cadet division Wolves was honored along with three coaches who helped with the Central Arizona Youth Football League all-star team, Steve Dunn (Blitz), Derrick Stinson (Rattlers) and Rick Cunningham (Blitz).

Eleven college-bound players from 5A-I state football champion Hamilton team were honored at a banquet held Tuesday at the Chandler Center for the Arts.

They are: Sage Aiono, who committed to Montana State University Northern, Ethan Kapili'I (Montana State University Northern,) Gerard Ingallina (Montana State University Northern), Travis Dean (Montana State University Northern), Devon Carrington (Stanford, Keegan Merrigan (U.S. Military Academy), Spencer Lee (Dakota State University),Justin LaLonde (Chapman University), Zach Bauman (Northern Arizona University), Ben Peters (North Dakota).

Seven players from Chandler High School were honored: Taylor Walstad (Arizona State University, William Poehls (University of Montana), Michael Jordan (University of Montana), Logan Spears (Peru State University), CJ Dickerson (Colorado School of Mines), Branden Zavalas (Northern State University), Dallas Lopez (Northern State University).

Basha High School’s Jared Jones (U.S. Air Force Academy) and Perry High School’s Scott Taggart (Northern State University) also received Spotlight Awards.

Mike Anderson of Texas Roadhouse at Germann and Gilbert roads and Jacque Youngkans of Marty's Trophys in Chandler were honored for their support of youth programs and the high schools.
