Xavier was perfect in its first match of the season Thursday, beating Cesar Chavez.

The Gators varsity won all six singles and three doubles for a final score of 9-0. The Xavier junior varsity followed in varsity’s footsteps, also winning 9-0.

Nedy Elizaldi of Cesar Chavez played one of the toughest matches of the night in the No. 3 varsity singles match against Danielle Dozer. Dozer won the first game 11-2. However, Elizaldi won the next game 11-9, forcing a third game. Dozer came back and won 11-2 to take the match.

Cesar Chavez has a new coach and a team largely made up of first-year players. Xavier’s greater experience helped the Gators win.
