Xavier ran its badminton record to 5-0 on the year with two wins this week.

The Gators beat Mesquite 9-0 Thursday. They beat Mountain Pointe 7-2 Tuesday.

Mesquite did not win a game in any singles or doubles match.  Tuesday’s game against Mountain Pointe had many close matches.

Mountain Pointe's Danielle Stewart and Xavier’s Weslie Norris split a surprising 11-0, 0-11 score in the first two games of the No. 5 singles match. Norris came back and won the third game 11-7.

Mountain Pointe’s two victories of the evening were in the varsity doubles games. The No. 1 Mountain Pointe pair Sienna Martinez and Holly Phillips triumphed against Cate Welch and Danielle Dozer after three games.  Stewart and Nadya Zolotova, the No. 3 doubles team, defeated Xavier’s Norris and Julia Friedman with a close 17-16 score in the first game. Xavier won the second game 15-6, but Mountain Pointe took the last game 15-9 to win the match.

The junior varsity matches were also won by Xavier with a 9-0 score against both opponents.
