Team AZ Stars beat Az Prospects 47-42 Sunday in the 16u final of the Cesar Chavez basketball tournament at Cesar Chavez High School.

The Stars hit 21 of 34 shots for the game (62 per cent) but made just seven of 15 free throws, helping keep the game close.

Shawn McGee scored 16 points for the Stars on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. Derreck Bowers added 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked several shots.

The Stars forced the Prospects into eight turnovers and had seven steals.

Team members include Cody Ostertag, Derrick Bowers, Austin Horton, Carson Stoltz, Dan Lopez, Brandon Johnson, Shawn McGee, Theo DeBerry, Derreck Brooks and Marcus Hendrix. They are coached by Brett Angner and Chad Clum.
