The Phoenix Polar Bears will face the host Fresno Monsters Tuesday night in the finale of their Junior A hockey playoff series.
The Monsters tied the best-for-three series at 1-1 Monday night, pummeling the Bears 5-1
Nate Johnston scored in overtime Sunday as the Bears won the opener 6-5.
The Monster took a 5-4 lead with 4:25 left in the third period when Monte French scored. Chance Berman answered for the Bears, scoring 21 second later.
The Monsters’ Trevor Tracy was called for checking for behind in the overtime. The Bears took advantage of the power play. Gaven Hohl and Jack Boese set up Johnston for the goal.
Derek Tomes had two goals and as assist for the Polar Bears, and Marcus Mitchell had two assists. |
