Hannah Carson of Chandler High School and the Arizona Cheetahs won the girls javelin Saturday in Greensboro, N.C. at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals track meet.

Carson threw 48.87 meters (160 feet, 4 inches) to beat Allison Updike of Pennsylvania, whose best throw was 46.95 (154-0).

Carson’s winning mark came on her final attempt, elevating her from second place.

On Friday, Carson finished ninth in the shot put with a mark of 13.27 (43-6.5).
