Arcadia, fresh off a title in the White Tanks Tournament and a road win over Maricopa, defeated two-time defending 4A-II state champion Seton Catholic Tuesday at Arcadia High School

The Titans won the match 25-23, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22 to improve their record to 12-2 on the year. Seton dropped to 6-5. Both teams entered the match undefeated in conference play.

In the first set, the Titans communicated well and kept the ball in play. The Arcadia back line was able to dig many of Seton’s tips over the net. Haley Lawless of Seton rallied the Sentinels, but it was too little too late.

Seton got off to a strong start in the second set and rode the momentum to victory. Arcadia’s Jensen Barton had a strong game setting the ball, but Arcadia could not put the sets way often enough.

Barton continued her strong play in the third set, and the Titans used her efforts, the serves of Aubrey Alianza (including an ace) and strong front-line play from Izzy Miller and Sonya Bray to the win the set.

The decisive fourth set started back-and-forth, but after two emotional time-outs by Arcadia coach Josh Olshan, the Titans were able to pull away. The set featured more great serving by the Titans, in particular Kristen Todd.
