The 97 Sereno White beat TSA 97 Red 2-1 Monday in the boys final of the 27th annual Sereno Soccer Classic at Avondale Friendship Park.

Gavinno Carraza took the ball down the sideline and toward the corner before drilling a goal for TSA to open scoring around the 20th minute.

Sereno’s Santos Villatenor attempted a header on the next possession, but goalkeeper Galen Vincent deflected the ball. Then, in the very last minutes of the first half, forward Tyler Feeley nailed an equalizer within the penalty box to tie the game at 1-1.

The second half was mostly dominated by Sereno as they protected the ball in the offensive end.

“We went from two holding midfielders to one and put more numbers into the attack,” said Sereno head coach Matt Bernard.

TSA continued to play aggressive defense in front of Vincent, who made three tough saves, one with a far dive to the lower right corner of the goal.

Javier Bernaldo De Quiroz Bulh scored the game-winner in the last ten minutes, after which TSA made several attempts to retaliate but saw no luck once they missed a corner kick opportunity.

“It was scrappy. They scored the first goal but we were back in the end,” said Bernard.
