Madalyn Markham led the Sereno ’97 Blue girls to a 3-1 victory over the Desert Foothills ’97 Elite Red with two assists and one goal Saturday at Reach 11 Sports Complex.

Desert Elite dominated the first 20 minutes of the game. Nancy Best scored an early goal with a chipped ball from outside the 18-yard box which soared over the Sereno goalie’s head. The Elite followed their first goal with several close attempts that they just couldn’t put away.

Sereno came back to tie the game in the last two minutes of the first half when Madalyn Markham crossed the ball in to Taylor Helm, whose low, fast shot found the back of the net.

Sereno picked up the intensity in the second half, scoring their second goal in the first 10 minutes. A shot from Madalyn Markham was deflected by the Elite goalie and followed up by Hannah Hudson.

After another 15 minutes of intense play, Markham got a goal herself, sealing the Sereno victory.
