The Banat ’98 girls beat the CDO Storm 2-0 Saturday in the first round of State Cup at Reach 11 Sports Complex.

Marisa Ortiz scored five minutes into the first half off a cross from the left side. Banat dominated play the rest of the half, taking several hard shots on goal.

It wasn’t until late the second half that Brooke Sosa put away Banat’s second goal. She beat a CDO defender and took a hard, low shot from the middle of the 6-yard box.
