The girls 99 Blackhawks scored three overtime goals Sunday to beat Gilbert Arsenal Premier in the U11 State Cup winners’ bracket semifinals at Westside Sports Complex.

In the 13th minute of the game, Kennedy Williams of the Blackhawks came out of a crowd of players in the middle of the box and shot the ball right past the goalkeeper, making the score 1-0.

The Blackhawks dominated the entire first half, but in the 40th minute of the game, Amanda Canzona of the Arsenal dribbled up the field through the Blackhawk defense and took a shot on the ground that tied up the game 1-1.

It was 49 minutes into the game when Ashley Gewecke on Gilbert’s defense took a long shot from mid field. The ball bounced up right in front of the goalkeeper and over her head, landing in the back of the net for a 2-1 Arsenal lead.

Just five minutes later, Anna Hess on the Blackhawks took a corner kick. The ball was hit perfectly to three Blackhawk players who all knocked the ball into the net at the same time, tying up the game 2-2 and setting up overtime.

Molly Vesling scored early in OT for the Blackhawks, then scored again minutes later on a crossing shot.

Late in overtime, Vesling sent a crossing pass to Williams, who hammered home the game’s final goal.
