SC del Sol 91 couldn’t avoid overtime, but the players spared themselves an evening of work with a 2-1 victory Sunday morning over Gilbert 92 Premier at Reach 11 for State Cup U19 girls soccer championship.

A victory by Gilbert in the double-elimination tournament would have forced a second game Monday night.
“They pushed us hard, and we did not want to play a second game,’’ SC del Sol co-coach Ally Maxwell said.
Ashley Hayes scored for SC del Sol in the first overtime period. Gilbert was never able to mount a surge after Hayes’ goal as del Sol managed to keep the ball on the Gilbert half of the field.
Maxwell said del Sol had played too passively when it led in the second half. In overtime, the players got the message and kept pressing, he said.
Megan Jerome tied the game for Gilbert at 1-1- on a sliding kick in the waning minutes of the second half.
Kristi McIndo had put SC del Sol ahead with a goal in the first half.
Both teams will going ot the Far West regional June 21-27 in Albuquerque.
Sereno 91 White 4, Tucson Soccer Academy 91 Red 1
The core group of boys had been with the Sereno ‘91 White for five years, and, in their final chance, the Golden Eagles finally won the State Cup.
Blake Milton scored four times as Sereno beat the Tucson Soccer Academy at Reach 11 to claim the U19 boys title.
“We finally won the Sate Cup,’’ Sereno coach Brian O’Donnell said.
Minh Vu scored TSA’s goal.
Humberto Soriano played a strong game in goal for Sereno. James Cohn, Robert Solomon and Brandon O’Hearn played solid games for the victors.
