Cole Nagy scored in the game’s only goal Sunday as Sereno 94 White won the U15 boys final at the Region IV soccer championships in Lancaster, Calif.
Nagy converted in the 74th minute as Sereno beat Aresnal FC of Southern California 1-0 to earn a trip to the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Lancaster, Mass., July 21-26, at Citizens Bank Fields at Progin Park.
“It was a great team effort all six days,’’ coach David Roberston said. “Really all the boys played well, whether it was scoring goals, stopping goals or just being defense-minded.”
The other three Arizona teams to make the regional final came up short.
In the U14 boys final, SC del sol’s Lenardo Rico tied the game 1-1 the 45th minute, which eventually sent the game into overtime. Gage Zerboni secured a 3-1 victory for West Coast FC of Southern California with two overtime goals.
Sereno’s Cadianne Naquin scored in the 50th minute of the U15 girls final, but the So Cal Blues won 3-1.
In U18 boys title game, Benjamin Raymond in the 62nd minute for Sereno, but it wasn’t enough and WSM Internationals of Oregon won 2-1.
