“We’re going to win,” said Arcadia head coach Daniel Polan before the game. ”We haven’t lost yet this season, and I am confident of my team’s ability to win today.”
Arcadia scored early and often in the first half. The first goal came in the second minute of the game when Hayley Jones finished a shot from inside the 18 yard box.
Another ten minutes of play brought a goal from Karla Varela, who scored off a cross from the right side. Rachel Ditullio scored Arcadia’s third goal with a shot from the right wing into the upper left corner of the goal in the 19th minute of play.
A corner kick from Varela was volleyed into the corner of the goal by Maddie Thorn for goal number four, and a behind-the-back pass from Varela assisted the fifth goal of the game, scored by Chandler Broadrick.
Varela, who is the team leader in shots, goals and assists, scored the sixth goal, which was followed by two successful shots from Nicole Fisk and one final goal from Danielle Estevez, bringing the score to 9-0 Arcadia at the end of the first half.
The second half saw no goals, just a successful game of keep away, with the Titans controlling the play.
Polan is already looking ahead to next week’s game.
“We are really excited to play Notre Dame,” he said. “They won it all last year and we have a bit of rivalry with them.”
The Arcadia-Notre Dame game will be played Tuesday at Notre Dame, who has a season record of 9-2-0. The game will also be broadcast over the internet.
