The Chaparral Firebirds spanked the North Canyon Rattlers 5-0 in girls soccer action Tuesday night at Chaparral.
Lea McDaniel scored Chaparral’s first goal in the first minute of the game when she followed up on Natlalie Hoekstra’s shot, which the North Canyon goalie deflected.
McDaniel assisted Chaparral’s next goal less than 10 minutes later when she got the ball to Zoe Smith who finished a left-footed volley.
The Firebirds scored three times in the second half.
The first came 15 minutes in when captain Kelly Rising received a ball on the outside left, duped a defender and finished a long shot over the goalie’s head.
Two minutes later, captain Jill Thrall put one in off of a free kick, and Hayley Thorfinnson squeezed Chaparral’s fifth goal into the last minute of the game when she scored with 45 seconds left.
“We did really well,” said Chaparral assistant coach Allison Roth. “We are excited for our game on Friday. It should be a good one.”
The Firebirds close out the season at home Friday against Desert Mountain. |
