A pair of one-hitters carried the Tucson Scramblers and the East Valley Titans to USSSA state softball championships Sunday at Desert West Sports Park in Phoenix.

Terese Othon's two-run double in the fifth and the one-hit pitching of Estella Pinon lifted the Scramblers, a young 18u team, past the 16u Desert Heat 2-0 for the 18u state title.

In the 14u division, the Titans won their fourth straight tournament behind Shea Koepnick's one-hitter in an 11-3 pounding of the AZ Jaguars.

18u championship

Elliana Teran led off the decicive fifth for the Scramblers with a walk. Abre Bustamonte reached on an error. After an out, Othon crushed her game-winning double.

That was enough for Pinon, who struck out 10. She also had a double and a single at the plate.

Alex Steinmeihl had two singles for the Scramblers. Melissa Mares and Briana Lopez had a single each.

14u championship

Koepnick gave up just one earned run and struck out three to cage the Jaguars.

Kayleigh Hooten had three hits and Stephanie Montanez three RBI and two stolen bases for the Titans. Laynee Gomez stole three bases.
