Queen Creek defeated Arcadia 8-3 in their season softball opener Tuesday afternoon at Arcadia.

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Queen Creek’s Kelsey Montgomery scored the first run for the Bulldogs.

They made it 4-0 in the third. A double by Emily Lodge, an RBI single by Kelsey Montgomery and a sacrifice fly by Brianna Powell made it 3-0. Powell eventually scored for a 4-0 Bulldogs lead.

Queen Creek had two outs and the bases loaded in the fifth before Arcadia’s pitcher, Shelby Koontz, threw three great pitches for a strike out to end the threat.

The Bulldogs extended their lead to 6-0 in the sixth. The Titans mounted a small comeback in the bottom half of the inning. Koontz and Brandi Heimburg each had a double for Arcadia. Amanda Byler later scored the final run for the Titans.
