Notre Dame solidified its softball playoff position Tuesday, defeating Arcadia 8-2 at Arcadia.

Saints pitcher Tess McPherson set down 10 straight Titans to start the game, finishing with five strikeouts.

Notre Dame, meanwhile, scored four times in the first inning and never looked back. Arcadia centerfielder Jessica Whitis caught four deep drives to keep the game close.

The Titans scored in the bottom of the fourth when Brandi Heimburg singled to right field, advanced to third on Andrea Gomez’s double and scored on Sarah Hunsaker’s sacrifice to make it 4-1.

The Saints made it 6-1 in the sixth. Chloe Edmunds and Lindsey Buckner both singled in the inning, while Mary Ahern and Nicole Bailey had doubles.

The Titans added their second run in the bottom half of the inning. Gomez plated Heimburg from second with a single.
