Great hitting and dominant pitching led the Sun Devils to two easy victories Friday in the Kajikawa Classic.
Hillary Bach led the Devils to a 14-0 victory over Portland State to begin the day. Bach threw 68 pitches in the complete-game, one-hit shutout of the Vikings.
Ashley Muenz led the Devils offensively, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and four RBI.
The Sun Devils scored six runs in the bottom of the second to break open the game. The Devils had 13 hits.
ASU scored early and often in their 14-2 victory over the Auburn Tigers in the later game. The Sun Devils scored at least two runs in every inning.
Lesley Rogers got the Devils started by leading off the game with a single and eventually scoring. She went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored three runs.
Arizona State scored three runs in the first and sealed the victory in the bottom of the second, when a leadoff home run by Christina Zambrana sparked a three-run inning.
ASU tacked on five more runs in the third, three on a home run by Katelyn Boyd.
Megan Elliott pitched a complete game, allowing just five hits while striking out six. |
