Lacy Goodman and Annie Lockwood gave ASU softball fans all the thrills they could want in an extra-inning victory over South Florida in the series opener — and the all thrills they’d see for the weekend.
After moving the start times of Saturday’s doubleheader at Farrington Stadium to accommodate an expected storm, illness struck the USF team. So games for Saturday were cancelled. Sunday broutght rain-outs. The No. 7 Sun Devils will now prepare to host the Wilson/DeMarini next weekend in Tempe at Farrington Stadium.
Lockwood, a Paradise Valley graduate, homered in the seventh inning of Friday night’s game to tie it at 7. Goodman, from Red Mountain, singled with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run.
Mandy Urfer homered twice and drove in three runs for the Sun Devils. Katelyn Boyd, from Horizon, went 4-for-4, and Caylyn Carlson, from Corona del Sol, went 2-for-4. Former Basha star Sam Parlich had a key single for the Devils. |
